Transforming Unity Through a Continuous Flag
Nadja Kracunovic & Isidora Markovic
The workshops unfolded as a collaborative exploration of unity and expression. Participants began by engaging in collective painting, transforming a large shared fabric into a vibrant canvas of individual gestures that ultimately formed a unified piece. Together, they crafted protest slogans, advocating for equality and embodying the strength of collective voices. The flag, central to the process, became an evolving and interactive element—shifting between a static installation and a performative object within the space.
Working both in small groups and individually, participants created distinct sections of the flag, which were later assembled into a cohesive whole. Through the use of threads and embroidery, they mended and connected the fabric pieces, symbolizing the merging of diverse ideas, backgrounds, and geographies. The act of deconstructing the flag invited a critical reimagining of its traditional symbolism, opening space for new representations of belonging and togetherness. Throughout the process, participants also learned various art techniques and methods, enriching the creative journey and deepening their engagement with the medium and each other.

„Heart, Head, Hands – perspectives on social Justice and solidarity in Europe“
Art workshops leaders:
Nadja Kracunovic and Hannah Meiers
Under the title „Heart, Head, Hands – Perspectives on Social Justice and Solidarity in Europe,“ 50 adolescents spent 10 days exploring questions about solidarity. The aim was to collaborate with young people in developing forward-looking perspectives on solidarity in Europe that build upon the experiences and living environments of young individuals.
The young participants engaged in reflection on the topic using non-formal methods. During the theoretical workshops, they delved into the subject based on the situations in the countries where the youths reside. Following the theoretical workshops, the participants continued their work in creative ways. These art-based workshops served as a complement to the theoretical approach. The goal of combining theoretical and practical, art-based engagement with the topic was to create a final theater and performance piece.
The intensive collaboration on a performance piece, incorporating various cultural practices, resulted in a diverse range of forms of cultural education and opportunities for the development of media literacy, enabling young people to become acquainted with each other on a profound level.
