THE STORY OF A BROKEN TIMELINE
Once the time broke into the tiny pieces everything that had existed broke within. We entered the era of Reversal, backpedaling in the direction of the Beginning, where the world was about to start again or remain.
While exploring haptically the skeletons of time, we see how differently they were treated. Their parts were cut, their surface destroyed, crippled, and often left with scars. The color faded away, texture mutilated, being wrapped in the past with its shape deformed. These fossils have neither purpose nor history. The artifacts were floating around, losing their structure, scent, purpose, and gravitation. Their bodies were thoroughly examined and carefully excavated from the void they were found in. Shoveled Future relics materially culminate while being dug out. Their existence depends on the speculation and imagination of the observer. Found broken, longing for what is lacking in a changed present, or Future.
Futurology kiosk is a laboratory of future speculations and a place of distortion of our timeline based on the Broken Timeline tale where past, present, and future suddenly collided. Combining different mediums, sound, installation, and performative objects, its futuristic experience unsettles the present and speculates on the future through its conceptual inventory. The artifacts are excavations from the future bringing nostalgia for what has never happened.
THE OBJECTS: BROKEN TIMELINE
Settled in a K600-type kiosk, used in the past of the GDR, the artifacts are the excavations of something that has never existed. They present distortion of our timeline, where past, present, and future suddenly collide. The artifacts unsettle the Now and speculate on the future through its conceptual inventory - imaginatively designed broken ceramics.
KIOSK: TIME CAPSULE’S PROGRAM
During a whole month of the exhibition Futurology Kiosk, which took place in the kiosk.6 Weimar, the visitors had a chance to excavate the objects from the sand inside of the kiosk, read the Future Nostalgia newspapers, and listen to the futurenostalgia.fm radio several hours per day. As a new chapter of the radio, more than 100 sound contributions on the topic of speculations of the future, coming from all around the world officially started playing both online and in the kiosk – with the aim to stop when the timeline swallows itself up.
Besides, the program consisted of several talks, such as Speculative Radio with Tina Klatte and Lefteris Krysalis, and Future Coffe reading by Nadja Kracunovic.
